Finally I received the first copy of our new CD, with sonatas for piano and cello by Alkan and Chopin! Here it is:

Needless to say that I'm very proud, but at the same time it's almost impossible for me to listend to it without thinking of everything that could have been better. Anyway, I think it's a very interesting and beautiful CD. To my knowledge, the Alkan sonata has only be recorded a couple of times, and never on period instruments. The Chopin sonata has been recorded many times, but the only recording on period instruments, by my beloved teacher Anner Bijlsma, was never issued on CD. Vaughan's Erard (1848) sounds fabulous and he plays beautifully. For me, this was the first time I put into practice everything I learned recently about 19th century performance practice. I use vibrato only when it matters, but I use lots of portamento. I'm curious to see how people will react to it.
